Interview with Water Canada magazine

Last week I got an email from Kerry Freek, editor of Water Canada magazine. We set up a call, and she asked me a bunch of questions about how things have been going so far.

Check it out here. She also talked to my pal Alina, who is blogging about her progress here, and also here, with Kevin Freedman, creator of this lovely challenge, now in its second year! :)

Do you have any questions for me? What are you doing to reduce your water consumption? I'd love to hear about it. It'd be great if you could show some solidarity by pledging to reduce your own water consumption by 25L or more.

As always, if you have comments/suggestions or questions, comment on the blog here or email me.

I'll post a video tomorrow, I swear. I even plan to do laundry this weekend with my mom's antique washing board--that should be a hoot. In the meantime, check out how water-savvy (and intense) this couple is!

Tomorrow I'll also do the tally for the past few days. I'm now writing everything down, but falling behind on my math and conversions. Doing it is one thing, measuring it adds a whole other level of effort! But that's all part of it.

appreciation

I think all of the comments above mine are good and fresh water is becoming a very serious problem for much of the world (it's not hard to find enough articles or videos by http://filecraft.com search engine with evidence of that, I just wish people thought more about such problems). The amount of needless damage to the environment that some are causing for the sake of profit is staggering! A minority of greedy people who have the power to manipulate governments are destroying the Earth to satisfy their own selfish desires. They care nothing about how many of us are going to die or that whole species of animals are being wiped out. I am doing what I can to stop it, but it is not enough. I am so sad when I think about it.

You make me feel guilty about

You make me feel guilty about taking my 10 minute hot shower on a cold day. We have decided to make better decisions when it comes to our water consumption(download info). Good luck to you on the challenge! We will be following down here! Jeff and Allison Francis

Your cousin

Celeste, So cool what you are doing. You make me feel guilty about taking my 10 minute hot shower on a cold day. We have decided to make better decisions when it comes to our water consumption. Good luck to you on the challenge! We will be following down here! Jeff and Allison Francis

no need to feel guilty! being aware is good though

Goodness, when it's cold out who doesn't love a warm shower? I usually take bubble baths once a month too. I think our being aware is really just the first step to pushing our local communities, municipalities, decision-makers, companies to ALSO be aware, fix leaky pipes and implement the many technologies that already exist to recycle greywater, etc. Using local plants in lawns instead of grass helps too. All kinds of stuff!

That I still have a few weeks to blog about. I should really make a list of everything to make sure I don't miss it!

I got Alli's comment from earlier and just haven't replied yet --thanks so much to the both of you for checking it out, and for the kind words! Means a lot! :)

Cheers,

Celeste

Canada is not the richest

Canada is not the richest country in water and if you look at the size of the country, then the amount of water we have is not disproportionate to our country, and [as] the Statistics Canada [points] Report, There are many parts of Canada, which are drying. Performance in Canada is not uniform, and so can not look to an adequate scraps in a part of Canada and determine that we have plenty of supplies when they are running in other parts of Canada.
