Sierra Club Canada is urging the public and its members to email the new Federal Minister of Environment, the Honourable Peter Kent, requesting he set up a meeting of himself and key stakeholders on the issue of climate change.

In the Sierra Club e-Blast, the request to Minister Kent goes:
Please consider arranging a meeting of yourself, the CEOs of the top 100 climate polluting companies, representatives of Canada's leading environmental organizations, CEOs of the emerging renewable energy industry and other companies offering solutions. Also invite some climate scientists to help referee and facilitate the meeting. You might just come out of the meeting with a climate change action plan!
The tradition among environmental organizations is to send the new Environment Minister a congratulatory note and an offer to have a get acquainted meeting. But Sierra Club Canada decided to do something different by involving thousands of Canadians in their outreach to the new Minister.
“Why not give it a try?” said John Bennett, Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada.
“We have a new Minister of the Environment who claims he takes the issue of climate change seriously. Let’s see how serious he is.”
