ACTION ALERT - Great news: Turtle court action
Ottawa's Blanding's turtles may be one step closer to protection. Late last week, a group of local environmentalists launched a legal action against the City of Ottawa to save the species and their sensitive marshland habitat. The local group of concerned citizens known as South March Highlands - Carp River Conservation Inc. has filed for a judicial review of the Terry Fox Drive Extension. This group is relying on you to cover the estimated $20 000 in court costs and legal fees.
Sierra Club Canada is accepting donations on their behalf. Click here!
Terry Fox Drive is being cut through the South March Highlands, home to the Blanding's turtle and sixteen other threatened and endangered species. This is a unique geologic area in the city that should be protected from all further development.
This is a critical juncture. Your financial assistance is urgently needed. Please consider making a contribution today. Proceeds donated to the Sierra Club Canada Turtle Fund will be used to support this important legal intervention.
