Premier urged to keep promise to protect bees

MEDIA ADVISORY, October 8, 2013

(Queens Park) Sierra Club Canada, Organic Council of Ontario and the National Farmers Union-Ontario will hold a press conference at 1 pm, Thursday October 10, 2013 in the Queens Park media studio to discuss neonicotinoid pesticide poisoning of honey bees and other pollinators.

With another planting season only a few months’ away beekeepers have been left hanging by Premier Wynne, who initially gave the impression the Ontario government would act swiftly to stop the ongoing slaughter of honey bees and other pollinators.

“It appears the premier has bowed to pressure from the pesticide companies despite the mountain of scientific evidence of the impact of neonicotinoid pesticides," said Sierra Club Canada Executive Director John Bennett.
