#DitchTheLawn

Why do the vast majority of houses have a lawn in the front and backyard? Sure, they're nice to walk on but who doesn't  bemoan the weekly ritual of mowing and other care required to keep that lawn green? On top of the work required, a nice and green lawn isn't exactly green for the environment, a well-substantiated fact that is acknowledged by plenty of news media like this, this, this, and this. Even respected organizations such as the NASA Earth Observatory recognize that while there are measures we can take to reduce the environmental impact of manicured lawns, they should be used sparingly.

Join Halifax Diverse on Sept 30  in cooperation with the Halifax Regional Municipality to learn about the dangers of the overuse of manicured lawns, the benefits of trees in our green spaces, and innovative ways to re-imagine our urban landscape.
