As Parliament comes back this fall, we must make sure that a green and just recovery is their top priority. We don’t have a moment to lose - big polluters have been busy lobbying for bailouts and exemptions from environmental rules.

No More Big Polluter Handouts - Canada Needs a Green and Just Recovery

In the post-Throne Speech time between now and the Fall fiscal update, the federal government can give the Canadian economy a multi-billion-dollar kick-start in an effort to recover from the COVID-19 health crisis. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to invest in a Green Recovery - a sustainable stimulus package focused on increasing employment and helping Canada transition to a cleaner and more equitable economy.

Letters Being Accepted on Inadequate Draft Right Whale Action Plan - Deadline August 9

The clock is ticking. We have until August 9th to comment on the draft Action Plan for the recovery of the North Atlantic Right whale, a document that outlines and prioritizes actions the federal government will take to protect this species.

Take Action - Stop Plastic Pollution In Its Tracks

Sierra Club Ontario is working with Chapters around the Great Lakes to tackle plastic pollution by encouraging members to take the Plastic-Free July Challenge.

Today, they need your help in ensuring our federal government steps up to the plate on plastics.

The federal government estimates that preventing plastic pollution can save $500 million a year, and create tens of thousands of jobs. 

As we rebuild after COVID, wouldn't it be great to create a truly circular economy with respect to plastics?

Court confirms that NL Offshore Petroleum Board was wrong to extend Corridor Resources’s exploration licence

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, July 7 2020 – Ecojustice lawyers and their environmentalist clients are celebrating a landmark victory in the wake of a court decision rendered July 3, which protects the Gulf of St. Lawrence and other sensitive ocean ecosystems. 

A Newfoundland and Labrador court quashed a licence for oil exploration in the Gulf, agreeing with the environmentalists that the offshore petroleum board was wrong to extend it beyond its legal term limit.
