I agree with your position. Not only is this proposal not necessary to meet Ontario's electrical needs, other alternatives such a co-generating being one, it is simply a proposal to generate more electricity for the U.S. and greater profits for private business. It is simply a business decision. Why would this proposal not be contemplated in the U.S.? Because the outcry would be cosmic. The people would not stand for it, they have already had one catastrophe or near catastrophe with nuclear power. Nuclear energy simply cannot be justified for all the reasons articulated in your article. You suggested that this proposal is simply a bad deal for Ontario taxpayers. I agree, but then all deals related to electrical generation are bad deals for taxpayers because we get to pay for the development of the generating facilities and then we have to pay exorbitant hydro rates to buy back what we have already paid for! There is insanity in that process and I do believe it is we the people who are insane. To see the insanity, all we have to do is think!!!
