Dartmouth, NS - HRM Diverse, with help from Canon Canada's Take Root Program presented by Evergreen, will be planting trees in Russell Lake West this Saturday, Oct. 5th from 11 - 1PM as part of an initiative to establish a forested area made up of 7 native tree species in the HRM's new Baker Drive Park.
This summer we have put together a few "walks and talks" around Mississauga and Toronto. These walks are free, and are guided by naturalists and professionals that provide a chance to get outdoors and learn something new about the natural areas within our communities. We hope you can join us for some of these events. Please feel free to share with those you think might be interested in attending!

Southwestern Energy (SWN) Resources is suing New Brunswick citizens attempting to protect their land, air, and water from the impacts of fracking by protesting seismic testing. In addition to naming 13 individuals, SWN named “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” as being responsible for costs they are claiming are caused by protestors. This Wednesday in Moncton, Jane Doe will speak out in response to SWN’s suit.
OTTAWA -- Sierra Club Canada is warning president Obama not to take Prime Minister Harper's new climate change offer seriously.
“Canada's climate change record since 2006 has been a disaster - nothing more than slick public relations designed to mislead and confuse Canadians and the international community,” said John Bennett, Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada. "I don't believe for a moment that Prime Minister Harper is serious and neither should President Obama. The Harper government has done nothing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
