Anowara has served as a financial analyst for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and as accounts manager for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. Her professional training includes completion of the mid fourth level of the CMA program with the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Dhaka University.

Ben Liadsky's picture

A Toronto native and Carleton graduate, Ben started as an intern at Sierra Club Canada and is now the Campaign Coordinator.  His primary focus is to work with fellow campaigners in relation to waste diversion and water issues.  He has had a long-standing interest in environmental matters and describes himself as an avid cyclist and environmental enthusiast. In addition, Ben has a background in local governance and climate change issues.

Carl has always been wild about the wild. He supplemented his commerce degree with courses on endangered species and protected areas management. He has also worked in the field on various wildlife projects including bears and cougars. This blended background helps Carl campaign for government action to recover Alberta’s iconic, yet threatened, grizzly bear.

An alumna of the University of Ottawa, Celeste’s background is in campaigning and advocacy work on a number of different topics, with particular emphasis on grassroots mobilization.

Cendrine has been with Sierra Club Canada since 1997, with a couple of hiatuses.  She has been biodiversity campaigner, a researcher, and is now editor of the National Office’s newsletters, and a member of the communications team.

Daniel thinks the environment is pretty great. His M.A. thesis focused on how grassroots environmental organizations can benefit from the use of social media and Web 2.0, and he did his undergrad studies in pop culture and business administration. He plays saxophone and has a pet rabbit named Buster.

Dianne Pachal's picture

Dianne leads our campaigns to protect wild species and spaces in Alberta. This includes protecting Grizzly bears and Woodland caribou and their habitats, and establishing new parks and protected areas like the proposed Andy Russell-I’tai sah kòp Park. Dianne is a respected veteran of the Alberta conservation movement and an avid backcountry traveller.

John has a long history of campaigning on energy and environmental issues dating back to the 1970s when he co-founded the first Greenpeace office east of the Rockies and launched Green Peace’s first nuclear power campaign. He created a media session by leading a trio of Greenpeace activists who canoed into the Bruce Nuclear Power Plant to prove it lacked security. Michael was born in Sarnia (Chemical Valley) Ontario—as a small child he thought that smokestacks made the clouds. He later graduated from the University of Windsor with a M.A. in Communication and Social Justice Studies. He produced media for a number of ENGOs and spent some time in politics before coming home to the Sierra Club.

Tania came to work for Sierra Club in February 2006.  She has been involved in fundraising for over 5 years, mostly in animal welfare.  She shares her home with her wonderful husband Paul, her dog Humphrey (see left) and cat Kato, all of whom fill her life with joy and laughter.
