Call for Board Nominations 2014

Calling all Candidates!

The Sierra Club Canada Foundation (SCCF) Board of Directors is expanding this year. There will be 12 elected members in two categories: 6 members-at-large and a representative from each of our 5 regions: Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies and British Columbia, plus one seat from the Youth Coalition.

Each year, one half of Board members are elected for a 2-year term. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

We are looking for candidates with non-profit board experience, fundraising experience, knowledge of environmental issues and time to dedicate to the governance of this influential national charity.

The Board of Directors meets approximately every other month by teleconference. It meets in person at least once a year for the Annual General Meeting usually in Toronto or Ottawa. The directors of the Board set SCCF's vision and policies, oversee prudent financial management, hire and guide the National Operations and Program Directors, and help establish and evaluate our strategic objectives.

You can nominate a member (or yourself). Please contact us with your interest or to find more information about the roles and responsibilities of a Sierra Club Canada Foundation director.

Nominations for the 2015 Sierra Club Canada Board of Directors must be received by October 9, 2014.

You may also seek election as a petition candidate. Petition candidates are included on the ballot as long as they are accompanied by the signatures of one percent of current members. Contact the national office for details about becoming a petition candidate. Deadline for petition candidates is also October 9, 2014.
