SURVEY: Supporter views on non-violent civil disobedience

RESULTS (1890 Responders)       6:19p.m. EST, January 31, 2013


HIGHLIGHTS:

  • When asked for their opinion on the statement "Non-violent civil disobedience in campaigns for environmental protection can be a legitimate and acceptable tactic in a democratic society", over 94% of 1890 responders said they “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”.

  • When asked for their opinion on the statement "The climate crisis has reached a critical point and requires a vastly more urgent response from the Government of Canada", over 98% of responders said they “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”.

  • When asked for their opinion on the statement "The climate crisis is so urgent that traditional legal campaigns are no longer sufficient", over 89% of responders said they “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”.

  • When asked for their opinion on the statement "Sierra Club Canada should seriously consider participating in non-violent civil disobedience actions", 88% of responders said they “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”.
