Commitment in NFS, under Ecosystem-based management commitment: Implement systems and decision making that sets resource-use levels (AAC) as an output of planning process. (Action item 1.3)

Existence of comprehensive information on the methods and assumptions used to determine the AAC that is readily available to the interested public

Overview of assumptions behind the model that calculates the AAC—

  • Is desired volume an input to the process?
  • Is the maximization of timber stated as the objective of the model?
  • Is the maintenance of ecosystem process, structure, function and composition a stated objective of the model?
  • Was the public involved in the process by having a chance to review and comment upon different AAC modeling scenarios?
