Get your costume ready! In two weeks, Global Climate Marches and mobilisations will be taking place in Canada and around the world.
Every day, marches are being announced in new locations on the 29th of November, to demand immediate and effective action on climate change leading up to the COP 21 Climate Change Summit in Paris. We need you to join us!
In Canada, thousands have already pledged to march in Ottawa and other cities across the country.
Two major environmental victories have taken place recently, derailing important parts of the war on the environment. Both victories saved programs to plant trees. Trees are critical to rescuing Lake Erie from massive algae blooms brought on by the twin evils of deforestation and phosphorus pollution.
Dan McDermott (May 6, 1947 - January 4, 2017)
Dan McDermott, Sierra Club Canada’s Ontario Chapter Director for 13 years, passed away peacefully on January 4th 2017. It is wonderful to see his influential life mentioned in these posts, which have featured in the news recently with reflections and thoughts on Dan’s life, what he dedicated it to, and his passing three weeks ago.

Sierra Club's Wild Child PEI is sad to say that nature immersion visits have finished for the summer- over 30 visits to 15 child care centres in Charlottetown, Summerside and Montague! These were wonderful experiences for me and the centre workers to let children explore, run free and unleash their inner curiosity about the world around them.
John Bennett and I have shared a lot of experiences over our forty years of environmental collaboration. Our friendship with Bob Hunter was an important one for us both. We were pleased and honoured to be asked by the Hunter Family to give the year’s lecture on Thursday April 14th at the University of Toronto.
