Listen! Can you hear it? That's a 300 year old oak tree singing in your ear!
You can buy it for 99¢ from iTunes and we will receive the royalties!
The song was written by Hall Of Fame tunesmith Roger Cook whose songs have been recorded by superstars such as Rod Stewart, Elton John, The Hollies, Neil Diamond, Frankie Valli, Crystal Gayle, George Strait, Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra and many more. He also wrote the Coke commercial "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)" that became a million seller hit single.
“Driving through Georgia on a summer morning, we saw a field of majestic old trees being cut down," Roger recalled to me over the phone from his home in Nashville. “We wondered what a tree would say if it could talk and the song 'Ballad of the 300 Year Old Oak Tree' was born."
Now, I know Roger created the song. But I can’t help feeling it’s really those great old trees singing their lament directly to Sierra Club Canada Foundation. We want to help them by returning and amplifying their voice while they help us continue the hard fight.
So, thank you, Roger, for channelling the oaks into this little fundraiser. And thank you great oaks for singing your song in our ears.
