Sierra Club Ontario Volunteers Plant 185 trees in Hickory Wood Park

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us in planting 185 native trees and shrubs in Hickory Wood Park this past weekend!

We also want to thank our partners Credit Valley Conservation & Sheridan College - Mission Zero!

It was a beautiful autumn day and we were so happy to connect with so many people.

Hickory Wood Park is considered a "heat vulnerable neighbourhood". Planting trees in Hickory Wood Park is part of Peel Region’s Green Natural Infrastructure Strategy to help make this community more resilient to climate change. Among their many benefits, trees contribute to cooling the air and circulating water in their local environment. Tree planting here also contributes to habitat linkages in the urban forest.

Through the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, we were able to plant all 185 trees.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. We are looking forward to the next one!
