Statement on COP26 Outcome From Our Representatives in Glasgow

For Immediate Release: Saturday, November 13, 2021

The gavel just dropped on COP26. The summit came to a disappointing end today following after-hours negotiations. It is an agreement that will make it harder to achieve the 1.5°C goal; and one on trend with the divisive summit.

Our delegates on the ground have been in conversations with environmentalists from around the world whose decisions could shape the future of Canada and the world. They believe that this final agreement is a small step but not the leap we need.

In the words of David Attenborough to open COP26 'our motivation should not be fear but hope'.

Communities and countries are still capable of great change and the future is shaped by those who take part in it. Let's shape it for the better.
