Tell Us Your Project of National Interest

On June 26, bill C-5, or the Building Canada Act, passed into law. The new law lets cabinet fast-track projects deemed ‘of national interest’ – and bypass important regulations, such as environmental assessment and proper consultation of Indigenous communities. We will keep fighting this.

The government wants to ‘build, baby, build’, and we understand why. But what exactly is a ‘project of national interest?’ Is it another pipeline, or community-owned wind farms? More highways, or a high-speed rail? It could even mean a national youth & nature climate corp or efforts to restore nature and support regenerative agriculture. Carney seems to have a very narrow definition of ‘national interest,’ one that puts short-term economic growth first while ignoring what our communities, and our planet, really need.

So we’re asking YOU: what is in our national interest? There’s form on this page you can fill out.
