We Are the Future: Art to Inspire Climate Change Action

In celebration of Earth Day 2025, Sierra Club Canada is supporting an Ottawa high school student-led initiative intended to draw attention to the growing climate change crisis. Ottawa high school age students are invited to participate in an art contest entitled “We Are the Future: Art to Inspire Climate Change Action”.

Art Climate Change Action page, Picture of Ottawa letters sculpture. This theme encourages teens to use the power of art to imagine a hopeful, solution-oriented climate future, while educating, promoting, and empowering communities to embrace a more sustainable, just, and cleaner world. Contestants are invited to submit their creations in any two-dimensional art form, including traditional, digital, photography, posters, and even up to 30-second videos.

The competition opened on April 7th and closes at midnight on April 30, 2025. A panel of judges— including a Sierra Club Canada representative, a corporate sponsor, a Lisgar Collegiate Institute staff member, and Anna Salazar—will select winners based on how well entries interpret the “We Are the Future!” theme.

Prizes include cash awards up to $200, gift certificates, eco-friendly products, and more. Winning entries may be featured in public exhibitions, local media, and on social media platforms, offering students recognition from environmental leaders and decision-makers. Winners will be notified by email early in May and will be asked to present their works in person to receive their awards.

Entries must be submitted electronically to climateartcontest@gmail.com, and may submit multiple works.

By entering, participants agree to allow their art to be used for non-profit promotional purposes in support of the theme.
