Giving Tuesday 2023
Join us this month and on Giving Tuesday 2023 (November 28th) to help us protect nature and endangered species.
In 2022, you helped Sierra Club Canada Foundation raise $23,564 for #GivingTuesday. By Giving today, your donation will help us reach our goal of $25,000 to help us carry out our six programs: protecting wildlife and endangered species, promoting conservation and the circular economy, environmental and social justice, exploring and enjoying the outdoors, and climate and clean energy, as well as our Wild Child programs.
At the heart of our approach is the belief that change is possible collectively and that addressing the climate crisis and biodiversity loss requires collective action, rooted in our communities.
Our vision that we are fundraising for this Giving Tuesday is one where:
- Clean energy empowers our lives entirely.
- The rights of Mother Earth are recognized and honoured.
- There is social and economic fairness upheld by strong democratic decision-making.
- We live within and respect the Earth’s limited resources.
- The outdoors belongs to everyone and everyone has access to the natural world.
After a year filled with turmoil due to increasing damage from natural disasters across the country, we relied on our communities to help us get through some challenging times. That is why on this Giving Tuesday, we want to honour the resilience and support of our communities and each other, to ensure we have healthy communities in the future.
As a loyal Sierra Club Canada Foundation supporter, we hope you will help by becoming a monthly donor, or contributing on behalf of a loved one.
Will you help us reach our goal of raising $25,000?
Best,
Beti Canet

Giving Tuesday is an annual global generosity movement. People from around the world join together to give what they can to support causes they care about. After calendar days devoted to consuming material things like Black Friday, Giving Tuesday is an alternative. By giving back, you can harness the power of community and generosity.

The Sierra Club Canada Foundation empowers people to be leaders in protecting, restoring and enjoying healthy and safe ecosystems. We bring attention to environmental issues in many parts of the country where national attention is too often lacking.
The Sierra Club Canada Foundation (SCCF) is a national registered charity that includes four chapters: Atlantic, Québec, Ontario, and Prairie, plus the Sierra Youth Coalition, a group whose mandate is to empower young people to become community leaders.
Our success depends on the support of individuals and organizations whose generous donations make our work possible.

The Sierra Club Canada Foundation has seen huge successes over the past year alone. Our Ontario Chapter and national branch helped to expand Canada’s plastic ban to include exports of banned products and continue to push for more single use plastic items to be banned.
Our Wild Child programs have gotten kids outside, learning and connecting with nature, for tens of thousands of hours.
We’ve played a crucial role in stalling, for now, the development of new LNG plants on Canada’s East Coast that threaten our climate and the safety of local Indigenous communities. We continue to play a central role in resisting against dangerous, climate-destroying oil projects, like Bay du Nord and Line 5.
Our Atlantic Chapter is doing critical one-the-ground work to bring energy democracy to communities and prevent further coal mining. Our Prairie Chapter is actively fighting to protect water sources and to build community gardens with hundreds of wildflowers and local grasses.
Our Ontario chapter is also planting trees and monitoring air quality in Ottawa. Our Quebec Chapter meanwhile is helping build local resistance to the Line 5 oil pipeline and is undertaking work to protect and conserve bird species and biodiversity by working with local municipalities.
Sierra Youth runs a groundbreaking podcast which has interviewed high ranking politicians about the future of youth and the environment, among many other guests.
