Invest in Renewables, not Equinor’s Bay du Nord

Send your message to MHAs, and Newfoundland and Labrador MPs, and the Prime Minister: Put the millions you’d give to Equinor into renewable solutions for our province instead (see form letter below – the form letter can also be accessed on this page).

After over a decade, we have yet to have consistent answers from Equinor about local construction jobs and oil spill readiness – and we are yet expected to be content with as much as a 16% chance of an extremely large oil spill and a situation where it would take 18-36 days – or more – to cap a well blowout. Abacus Data polling from September 2025 found that 79% of residents in Newfoundland and Labrador would feel pride if Canada became a renewable energy superpower. Public funds should be directed to creating opportunities for wind and solar energy linked to an electricity grid  that will benefit NLers – not oil companies that are raking in billions in profits.
